IEC 61439-2 ASSEMBLY

D3 Capabilities

MEP and Building Services

Power, cooling, water and life safety. This division exists because of a single structural gap: Western lead times for electrical distribution equipment now run from nine months to two and a half years, while the supply base we buy from delivers in twenty to thirty-five days. We close that gap without lowering the specification.

02Source geography

Where it is made.

Low voltage switchgear and protection from Yueqing and Liushi in Wenzhou, the largest concentration of low voltage electrical manufacture in the world. Cable from the Yixing and Jiangyin belt. Lighting from Zhongshan Guzhen.

Chillers, variable refrigerant flow and air handling from the Zhuhai, Foshan, Qingdao and Nanjing plants, including the joint venture and internationally owned facilities.

Plastic pipe from Guangdong and Zhejiang, brass and industrial valves from Yuhuan, Wenzhou and Suzhou. Where a specification calls for a European or Japanese component, we buy it and integrate it rather than substitute.

03What we check

Ten checks. The first one takes two minutes and almost nobody does it.

Electrical and mechanical product hides its defects behind a compliant-looking label. These are the tests that find them.

  • We weigh the cable drum. Copper mass per kilometre is arithmetic and cannot be argued with. Cable sold as 1.5mm2 that is actually 1.35mm2 is endemic, as is copper-clad aluminium sold as copper. One scale and one calculation catches both.
  • Breaking capacity is verified against the type test report. Devices claiming 6kA that test at 3kA are common. We require IEC 60898 and IEC 60947 type test reports from an ILAC-signatory laboratory, and prefer the IECEE CB Scheme route.
  • Assemblies to IEC 61439, not components in a box. A distribution board is only compliant if the assembly is verified. Where a project needs it, we source from the licensed panel-builder programmes run by the major switchgear manufacturers.
  • AHRI certification is the gate on plant. A chiller without an AHRI 550/590 listing, or a variable refrigerant flow system without AHRI 1230, is unsellable into any consultant-specified job. We do not offer plant that cannot be listed.
  • The compressor is the machine. Danfoss, Copeland, Bitzer or Hanbell against an unnamed domestic unit changes everything about the life of the equipment. We specify the compressor separately.
  • Coil coating in coastal and Gulf installations. Uncoated coils fail in two to four years in the Gulf. We specify the coating.
  • Refrigerant, and its remaining sellable life. R410A is being phased down under the Kigali Amendment and the European F-Gas Regulation toward R32, R454B and R1234ze. We do not hold R410A equipment in inventory and we tell buyers where a refrigerant choice shortens the asset's compliant life.
  • Virgin resin and named grade on pipe. Recycled or filled polypropylene random copolymer fails at five to eight years under hot water. Good factories name the resin grade unprompted. We ask for DVGW or SKZ certification.
  • Low-lead brass where it is required. The United States requires a weighted average of 0.25% lead on wetted surfaces with NSF/ANSI 372 certification. Low-lead brass costs meaningfully more, which is why it is the single most common silent substitution in plumbing.
  • Fire safety is a listed-product-only category. We trade UL-listed, FM-approved or LPCB-listed product exclusively, verified on the issuing body's own database rather than from a supplied certificate, and matched to the exact model and orifice size shipped. On fire-rated glass we state the classification, not just the minutes: EI is insulated and blocks radiant heat, E is integrity only, and the price difference is three to four times.

05Commercial parameters

Cable
Priced as copper plus conversion, which makes it a metals position. Quoted on 14-day validity.
Switchgear
Minimums typically 500 to 1,000 pieces per rating. Lead time 20 to 35 days.
Plant
Chillers and air handling units are make-to-order at 8 to 16 weeks, with milestone payments and retention against commissioning.
Lifts
Supplied against a nominated in-market installation and maintenance partner, never as a bare product. A lift is a product plus an installation plus a statutory inspection regime.
